There is a specific kind of pain that comes from a promise that stays “just around the corner” for too long. This reggae track explores the regret of a man who realized that his favorite phrase—”soon come”—was actually the very thing that drove his partner away.
When I wrote these lyrics, I wanted to focus on the weight of the words we use to buy time. “Soon come” is a staple phrase, but in this context, it represents the commitment that was always promised but never delivered. It is a reflection on the moment you realize that “soon” has finally run out of time.
