This is a perfect “answer song” to Joey’s track, showing the other side of the story. While Joey’s version is about regret, Amara’s version is about the strength found in walking away.
There is a limit to how long a heart can survive on promises alone. This song is the anthem for everyone who has realized that “soon come” is just another way of saying “not right now,” and has finally decided that “right now” is exactly what they deserve.
When I wrote these lyrics, I wanted to respond to the idea of ”waiting in vain.” It is about the power of the word “no” and the peace that comes when you stop checking the door for someone who has been “soon come” for years. It is about reclaiming your time and your heart.
